Small Groups

Small groups are an intimate expression of church that seeks to deepen friendships and spiritual experience. Small groups meet in peoples’ homes and are an interactive opportunity to challenge, question and be real, in an enjoyable and relaxed environment.

There are a variety of midweek small groups (scroll to the bottom of this page)but we spend the third Sunday of each month in home-based small groups instead of at the school.

The groups are:
Chill Sunday is led by the Quintons and Joanna Webb and held at the Hawking’s home on Blacketts Wood Drive.
From Hosea 6 Vs 3 “ Let us acknowledge the Lord:
let us press on to acknowledge him: As surely as the sun rises,
He will appear: he will come to us like winter rains,
like the spring rain that waters the earth”
We see the group as being a place for refreshment and revival.
There will be opportunity for soaking in prayer as well as waiting for God to “rain” on us and reign in us!
We hope to be a place of family, fun, laughter, worship, prayer, and living water. An oasis in the desert.

More Than is led by the Maxwells and held at the Cordon’s home on Quickley Lane. Open to all, our group will, first and foremost, enjoy getting to know each other better. We’ll be exploring new models (or fresh expressions) of 21st century church. Covering all four areas of our new Carpenters Vision, we’ll aim to be living it out, not just talking about it. Children and little ones will be especially welcome in our group. Using material provided, we will take it in turns to make sure the younger ones are also developing spiritually. Using each others gifts, this group will be more than the sum of its parts!

The Fringe is led by the Pages and will be held at their home. We hope that the group will be attractive to some of the people connected to Carpenters who perhaps don’t enter into traditional church life as much as others consequently the group may meet midweek and be best suited to those not already in a midweek group
The content and style will be driven by things such as:
• Contemporary and Celtic spirituality, mission, hearing from God
• Exploring themes from the “emerging church” (also known as Fresh Expressions)
• We may look at a book such as Dallas Willard’s The Divine Conspiracy, a 12-step “Serenity” programme, the Beatitudes or some other life challenging theme
• This group will be challenging to those who call themselves Christians and provide an open door to those exploring their relationship with God

The Youth will be meeting at Becca's home, and will then join "More Than" for lunch.
